Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Saturday that Ukraine will not concede its lands, rejecting American proposals that an agreement with Russia could include land exchanges.
This comes as Washington and Moscow prepare for talks between Presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin regarding ending the war.
Trump announced on Friday that he would meet his Russian counterpart Putin in Alaska on August 15, stating that both sides, including Zelensky, are close to reaching an agreement that could resolve the ongoing conflict for more than three years.
Regarding the details of the anticipated deal, Trump said it would involve "some land exchanges that serve the interests of both parties."

The Ukrainian president added: "No one will deviate from that, and no one can do that."
