Algeria Withdraws Diplomatic Privileges from French Embassy in a New Escalation

Algeria has decided today, Saturday, to withdraw all entry privileges to Algerian ports and airports that were granted to the French embassy in Algeria, as part of a strict implementation of the principle of reciprocity, in a new diplomatic escalation.

According to the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement, "This decision came after summoning the acting head of the French embassy in Algeria today, once again, to protest against the continued obstacles facing the Algerian embassy in Paris regarding the delivery and receipt of diplomatic pouches, in clear violation of the international agreements binding on the French government".

The statement added: "These obstacles, which were initially limited to the Algerian embassy in Paris, have extended to include Algerian consular centers in France, despite the commitment of the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs to reconsider this measure".
