The Secretary-General of Lebanese Hezbollah, Naeem Qassem, announced today, Tuesday, that the party refuses to set a timetable for handing over weapons, vowing to target Israel with missiles if it launches a broader war on Lebanon.

In his speech, Qassem said: "We refuse to set a timetable for handing over weapons while the Israeli aggression continues," pointing out that Hezbollah has not agreed to any new agreement with Israel.

Speaking about the Lebanese state, Qassem said: "The state must take steps to ensure protection, not to disarm its citizens and its resistance."

He added: "If Israel resumes launching a broader war on Lebanon, we will target it with missiles." He considered that "the United States seeks to strip Lebanon of its capabilities in service of Israel's interests."

He mentioned that "Hezbollah has fully committed to the terms of the ceasefire agreement, and no violations have been reported against the enemy (Israel) or in cooperation with the state."

He added: "America has come with dictates to strip Lebanon and the resistance and the people of their strength and capabilities entirely in favor of Israel."

He also confirmed that: "Lebanon's interest is to regain sovereignty and liberation, while Israel's interest is to weaken Lebanon."

According to "Sky News Arabia," a source close to Lebanese Hezbollah said that the party "will determine its position on the governmental issue based on what will result from the discussion of the arms exclusivity clause."

The source added: "Lebanon needs elements of strength in light of the significant changes imposed by Israel in the region, especially since the amendments requested by Lebanon to the American paper were not taken into account."

He pointed out that "there are no American guarantees or signs of Israel's approval of the Lebanese paper being discussed."

He continued: "We agree with President Joseph Aoun on the priorities of stopping the assaults, withdrawal, releasing prisoners, and discussing weapons within the national defense strategy."
