Hebrew Media: Israeli Army Records Highest Suicide Rate Among Its Ranks

Israeli channel "Kan" revealed the registration of 16 suicide cases within the Israeli army ranks since the beginning of the year 2025, amid escalating post-traumatic stress disorders among soldiers due to the war in Gaza.
The channel explained that official sources acknowledged that around 3770 soldiers have been affected by post-traumatic stress disorders (PTSD), while more than half of the affected, exceeding 19,000 casualties, receive psychological treatment under the supervision of the Rehabilitation Department in the Ministry of Defense.
Despite the military institution's attempts to downplay the significance of these numbers, emphasizing that they do not necessarily reflect a general increase, the channel stressed the presence of a worrying rise in suicide cases, especially among reserve soldiers returning from combat missions.
In this context, the channel reported that the military censorship allowed the publication of details of the suicide of the soldier Ariel Taman, who served in the Forensic Investigation and Body Diagnosis Unit, and was found dead inside his home in the town of Ofakim. Other cases were also addressed, including the soldier Daniel Adry, who ended his life after a long struggle with post-traumatic stress disorder, and was recognized as a "service casualty".
The channel pointed out that the army organizes mental support workshops and directs soldiers to mental health specialists, but experts warned that these interventions are still limited and lack a comprehensive long-term support strategy that goes beyond formal and seasonal approaches.
