Health Warnings in Sudan: Cholera Spreads Rapidly Among the Camps of Darfur and Jebel Marra

Health experts in Sudan have issued urgent warnings about the increasing cases of cholera, with alarming outbreaks recorded in several areas, most notably the Darfur region and its camps, in addition to Jebel Marra, Nyala, Zalingei, and the Shairiya locality in the New Reservoir area.
In the Tallaja area, most of the infections are concentrated in the camps, alongside the Martal area south of Tallaja and Tabra, where the cumulative number since the outbreak began has reached 4,148 cases, including 73 deaths. Currently, 110 infected individuals are receiving treatment in isolation centers, while 74 new cases were recorded today.
Tabra has recorded 102 cumulative cases, while the areas of Jebel Marra have recorded:
Golo: 893 cases, including 51 deaths.
Jaldo: 67 cases, including 8 deaths.
Nertiti: 10 cases, including 2 deaths.
Rokero: 46 cases, including 4 deaths.
Dribat (East Jebel Marra): 19 cases.
Fina: 2 confirmed cases.
As for the displacement camps, the following cases have been recorded:
Surtuni: 23 cases, including 2 deaths.
Kalma: 435 cases, including 45 deaths.
Atash: 200 cases, including 50 deaths.
Drij: 114 cases, including 4 deaths, in addition to infections in the Al-Salam camp.
In East Darfur, in the Shairiya locality (New Reservoir), the cumulative number has reached 39 cases, including 17 deaths, while Zalingei has recorded infections in the Al-Hamidiyah camp with 9 cases.
