Google DeepMind employees in Britain are planning to join a labor union to be able to challenge the company's decision to sell its artificial intelligence technologies to defense groups associated with the Israeli government, as reported by the Financial Times. The report, citing informed sources, stated that around 300 Google DeepMind employees in London have been seeking to join the Communications Workers Union for weeks. Google DeepMind is a subsidiary of Alphabet, the parent company of Google. Google, Google DeepMind, and the Communications Workers Union have not responded to Reuters' requests for comment so far. The newspaper also mentioned that reports indicating Google selling its cloud services and AI technologies to the Israeli Ministry of Defense have raised concerns among employees. It is worth noting that Google has faced issues in the past regarding its relations with Israel, as 28 employees were fired last year after protesting a cloud services deal made by the American company with the Israeli government.
