The "GitHub" platform lifts restrictions on Syrian developers and restores full services

The famous platform "GitHub" for software development management announced the restoration of full services, including personal and paid accounts and the "GitHub Copilot" service, for developers in Syria, following the easing of U.S. restrictions imposed on the country.
In an official statement from the company: "This step represents an important phase in GitHub's commitment to the freedom of all developers to use the platform, regardless of their place of residence." The statement clarified that these changes will come into effect widely over the next week.
GitHub noted that public projects and repositories were previously available, but prior restrictions had prevented Syrian developers from fully benefiting from the platform. The company also extended special thanks to Syrian developers "who continued to demand their right to full access to its services."
The platform did not overlook praising the significant contributions of Syrian developers to open-source projects over the past years, as recorded by the "GitHub Innovation Graph", the open database that documents programmers' activities globally.
For his part, the Syrian Minister of Communications and Technology, Abdul Salam Haikal, welcomed this decision, considering it a result of continuous efforts. He wrote on the "X" platform: "The return of GitHub is part of a series of efforts to reactivate global platforms in Syria," pointing to coordination with international partners to ensure the success of these steps.
It is worth noting that "GitHub" is the largest platform in the world for managing software development projects, used by millions to share code and collaborate in building applications. Syrian developers have suffered for years from restrictions, forcing them to use VPN tools to bypass them, which hindered their active participation and limited their educational and professional opportunities.
The lifting of these restrictions is expected to contribute to the reintegration of Syrian talents into the global tech community, which will give a strong boost to the technology sector and startups in Syria.
