Germany Summons Chinese Ambassador Over Accusations of Using Laser Against German Aircraft

In a new diplomatic escalation, the German Foreign Ministry summoned the Chinese Ambassador to Berlin on Tuesday, July 8, over accusations of "targeting a German military aircraft with laser beams" by the Chinese army.
The German Foreign Ministry stated in a release on the "X" platform: "Endangering German soldiers and disrupting operations is absolutely unacceptable."
The German aircraft was participating in the "Atalanta" operation under the European Union, aimed at enhancing maritime security and protecting the freedom of navigation for commercial ships in areas such as the Red Sea, the Indian Ocean, and the Gulf.
This incident comes amid growing European concerns about China's expanding influence in sensitive areas such as biotechnology and security infrastructure on the continent.
So far, the European Commission or the Chinese Foreign Ministry have not commented on these accusations, according to Reuters.
It is worth noting that the "Atalanta" operation is part of the European Union's common security and defense policy, focusing on combating threats to international navigation.
