Police in the city of Landsberg in the state of Saxony-Anhalt in eastern Germany seized hundreds of kilograms of the stimulant drug Captagon in a vegetable store today, Sunday. In a joint statement, the police and public prosecutor estimated that the confiscated quantity is valued at over twenty million euros. "This may be one of the largest individual quantities of this substance ever seized in Germany," according to "Der Spiegel".
Investigations are ongoing against the suspects, who are currently not in Germany. The investigations revealed that shipments of fruits delivered to the vegetable store are suspected of concealing drugs inside them. According to the police, over twenty suspicious shipping pallets were seized on Saturday, July 12, 2025.
German authorities reported that four of these pallets have been forensically analyzed so far. They were found to contain approximately 300 kilograms of Captagon, equivalent to around 1.7 million pills.
