Three major countries, France, Britain, and Canada, have taken unprecedented actions against Israel, expressing their condemnation of the ongoing Israeli war on Gaza, in a remarkable shift in the stances of Israel's traditional allies. The three countries issued a joint statement reflecting their rejection of what is happening in the occupied Palestinian territories. In an escalatory move, Britain decided to suspend trade negotiations with Israel and impose sanctions on settlers in the West Bank, as well as summoned its ambassador in Tel Aviv in protest against the ongoing military operations in Gaza and violence in the West Bank. Meanwhile, French Prime Minister, Francois Bayrou, announced the initiation of steps to recognize a Palestinian state, a move that coincided with similar intentions declared by Britain and Canada. These diplomatic shifts are a result of internal pressures in those countries, as they initially supported Israel at the beginning of the war. However, Israeli escalation and failure to achieve military objectives, coupled with the circulation of horrifying images and videos of the situation in Gaza, led to a radical change in positions. Egyptian military expert, Major General Osama Mahmoud, pointed out that these countries are beginning to sense the consequences of their continuous support for Israel after the situation worsened, prompting them to change their policies. In this context, international relations expert Dr. Ismail Turki stated that this shift signifies that major countries no longer accept the continuation of the "genocidal war" and forced displacement attempts in Gaza. He explained that this marks a turning point in the policy of Israel's traditional allies, reflecting the increasing pressures Tel Aviv faces from its Western allies, despite their continued support for Israel's right to exist and its security. Regarding the relations between Israel and the three countries, recent times have witnessed significant tension over key issues such as the two-state solution, with these countries considering Israeli settlement expansion in the West Bank a real threat to the peace process. This diplomatic shift may lead to fundamental changes in the relations between these countries and Israel, and could contribute to reshaping the international community's strategy towards the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
