Fires in the countryside of Latakia and Hama are spreading.. Five of them are under control and a race against time to extinguish the burning spots

Firefighting teams, civil defense, and forestry brigades are in a race against time to extinguish fires that have consumed areas of the countryside of Latakia and Hama in recent days.

The Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management, Raed Saleh, announced on Tuesday evening that intensive efforts have resulted in the complete extinguishment of five fires, while dozens of firefighters continue to work around the clock to control two other fires that are still out of control.

In the areas of Haffa, Mount Turkmen, Qardaha, Jableh, Kessab, and the Ghab Plain, teams are working amidst harsh challenges: steep slopes, the absence of firebreaks, and strong winds that carry sparks over long distances, while temperatures exceed normal levels.

Saleh indicated that on August 10 and 11, there was an emergency response to 26 fires in various provinces, including forest fires, homes, and other diverse fires, confirming that monitoring continues until the last burning spot is extinguished to prevent any resurgence of the flames.
