The Syrian presidency announced today, Tuesday, the appointment of Mukhlis Al-Nazir as the first deputy governor of the Central Bank of Syria, in a move that reflects the government's direction towards enhancing efficiency and expertise in managing monetary policy.

Who is Mukhlis Al-Nazir?

Mukhlis Al-Nazir is a writer and researcher in economic affairs and international relations, with extensive experience in financial consulting, asset management, and academic teaching.​
He currently holds the position of economic advisor at the Central Bank of Syria since February 2025, where he was selected as part of a group of experts tasked with formulating and implementing the bank's monetary policy. He also works as a financial advisor and asset manager at "Rafah" since December 2024, and as an assistant professor at the Management and Science University (MSU) since August 2024.

Academic and Training Experiences​

• Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Business Administration at the Malaysian Islamic Science University – Istanbul Branch (2018–2023).​
• Former lecturer at the University of Damascus and the Higher Institute of Business Administration "Hiba" (2016–2017).
• Trainer and economic, financial, and administrative consultant for several governmental and private institutions.

International Positions and Private Sector​

• Program Director at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in Syria (2013–2017).​
• Regional Sales Manager at Coca-Cola – Syria (2010–2012).
• Marketing Supervisor at "Kata'kit" for developing confectionery industries (2008–2010).

Scientific and Media Production​

He has many published research papers in English in peer-reviewed scientific journals, along with opinion articles in Arab newspapers and websites such as "Syria TV", "Raseef 22", and "Noon Post", where he highlights contemporary economic and social issues.​

• PhD in Economics and Business – Higher Institute of Business Administration "Hiba" (2014).
• Master's in Accounting and Finance – Higher Institute of Business Administration "Hiba" (2011).
• Master's in International Financial Sciences – Istanbul Commerce University (2022).
• Bachelor's in Accounting and Finance – University of Damascus (2008).
• Holder of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
