The European Union said today, Wednesday, that it may reach a preliminary trade agreement with the United States in the coming days, while U.S. President Donald Trump promised to send more customs duty notifications to countries he did not name.
Trump expanded the trade war when he said on Tuesday that he would impose a 50% tariff on imported copper and would soon apply tariffs on semiconductors and drugs that he has threatened to impose for a long time.
Late on Tuesday, he said he would send "at least seven tariff notifications" on Wednesday morning, and more later. He did not provide any other details in his post on the "Truth Social" platform.
