California witnessed violent clashes between protesters and federal forces on Thursday following a sudden raid on a licensed cannabis farm in the agricultural area of Camarillo, sparking a heated verbal confrontation between the state governor Gavin Newsom and President Donald Trump's administration.

In detail, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents conducted a raid on the farm, using tear gas to disperse a crowd of protesting workers and activists. Activists shared footage showing clashes between the two sides amid white smoke, as reported by "NewsMax" network.

In response, Newsom _considered one of the leading potential presidential candidates in 2028_ attacked the federal administration with a harsh tweet, stating:"Children running from tear gas, crying on the phone because their mothers were taken from the fields. Trump calls me 'scum,' but he is the real scum."

The controversy escalated when the official Department of Homeland Security (DHS) account directly questioned Newsom: "Why are children working in a marijuana facility, Gavin?"

Rodney Scott, Commissioner of Customs and Border Protection, stated in a post that investigations revealed serious violations, saying: "Breaking news: 10 minors were found in this marijuana facility, all undocumented immigrants, with 8 unaccompanied. They are now under investigation for child labor violations. This is California, Newsom."

The crisis escalated beyond verbal disputes when helicopter footage showed a protester firing at federal agents. U.S. Attorney Bill Essel announced a reward of $50,000 for anyone aiding in his capture.

Newsom's office described the raids as "inhumane," causing "chaos, fear, and terror" under Trump's administration directives, affirming their "real cost on hardworking families and communities, including farmworker communities."

On the other hand, Glass House Brands, the farm's owner, denied any violations and issued a statement confirming their full cooperation with authorities, citing compliance with inspection orders from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The crisis continues amidst mutual accusations and escalating tensions between local and federal authorities, while investigations into child labor violations and illegal immigration persist.
