President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey affirmed today that his country will continue to work and coordinate with the Syrian government and international partners on regional issues.

The Anadolu news agency quoted Erdogan as saying in a speech during a consultative meeting of the ruling Justice and Development Party in the capital Ankara today: "We continue to work with the Syrian government and our international partners, and I believe that the page of terrorism will also be turned there and brotherhood will prevail."

Erdogan added: "The dawn of great and strong Turkey rises today as the scourge of terrorism reaches its end," in reference to a number of Kurdistan Workers' Party members relinquishing their weapons, while also indicating that Turkey will become stronger and more confident than ever before as terrorism comes to an end.

Members of the banned Kurdistan Workers' Party in Turkey handed over their weapons yesterday in a symbolic but important step in the decades-long conflict between Turkey and the Workers' Party near Sulaymaniyah in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

President Erdogan also emphasized that his country closely monitors all initiatives aimed at stopping bloodshed and tears of mothers, alleviating pain, and strengthening brotherhood, according to his expression.
