President Recep Tayyip Erdogan renewed his country's support for Syria in everything that contributes to its prosperity and enhances stability, affirming that permanent peace and stability in Syria are also in Turkey's interest, and anyone who seeks to obstruct that will find Turkey confronting them.
The Anadolu Agency quoted Erdogan as saying today, Saturday, in statements to journalists aboard the presidential plane on his return from an official visit to Azerbaijan: Turkey will stand with the Syrian people in achieving their unity and in reconstruction, as it has stood with them since the first day of the revolution, expressing his belief that the current Syrian administration will take faster steps towards development after the decision of the United States and Europe to lift sanctions.
Erdogan added: "We believe that a stable, peaceful, and strong Syria will benefit its neighbors, and we offer all support to ensure that the Syrian army alone regains control of the entire country, emphasizing that the unity of Syrian territories is of great importance to Turkey."
He confirmed that the process of rebuilding relations between Turkey and Syria is progressing rapidly, pointing to the possibility of implementing models such as free trade zones, logistical bases, and border markets in northern Syria.
President Erdogan expressed his country's determination to provide all possible support to completely eliminate terrorism in Syrian territories, all armed elements, and to ensure the Syrian army alone controls all Syrian territories.
Erdogan noted that the lifting of American and European sanctions on Syria will accelerate its economic recovery, development, and reconstruction.
The Turkish president quoted his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev as ready to provide all kinds of support to Syria regarding natural gas, saying: "It is very important that Ilham Aliyev puts forward such an initiative".
