Minister of Energy in Syria, Mohammad Al-Bashir, inaugurated yesterday, Sunday, the "Tafriqat Jaditiyah" drinking water station in the countryside of Tartous, which underwent a comprehensive renovation and rehabilitation process to improve service quality and operational efficiency. This was done in cooperation with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent and the International Committee of the Red Cross to enhance the station's capacity to meet the drinking water needs of around one hundred thousand people in several villages such as Al-Sheikh Saad, Basmaqah, Beit Al-Sultan, Beit Juhai, and Isqubuli, in addition to several neighborhoods in the city of Tartous. The rehabilitation included replacing water pumps in Basmaqah and Al-Sheikh Saad, as well as changing suction and discharge lines, conducting complete maintenance of the building and surrounding facilities, paving the courtyard, and installing a new main gate to protect the project's premises. After these works were completed, the station now has four pumps; two are currently operational and two are reserves, replacing the old single pump that was dilapidated and insufficient to meet the demand. The opening ceremony was attended by the Governor of Tartous, Ahmed Al-Shami, along with the Assistant Minister of Energy for Water Affairs, Osama Abazid, reflecting the importance of this vital project that enhances the stability of providing drinking water and contributes to improving the quality of life for the residents in the region. This project is part of efforts to develop water infrastructure to ensure service sustainability and enhance investment in this vital sector.
