Awqaf: Starting the process of renovating the carpets in the Umayyad Mosque to welcome the month of Ramadan.

The Ministry of Awqaf announced the start of the carpet renewal process at the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus, in preparation for the upcoming blessed month of Ramadan.
The spokesperson for the Ministry of Awqaf, Ahmed Halaq, stated via the ministry's "Telegram" platform that "the ministry has given special attention to evaluating and preparing mosques and endowment buildings across the country, and has activated engineering departments in the provinces to ensure the quality of work."
Halaq pointed out that "the Umayyad Mosque was one of the mosques that received attention from the ministry, given its religious and historical significance, and the fact that it has not undergone restoration for decades. A comprehensive assessment of the mosque's condition and needs was conducted."
Halaq mentioned that "through the assessments carried out by the mosque's engineering committees, a comprehensive study for its restoration was conducted, dividing the work into two phases, short-term and long-term."
According to Halaq, "we received several offers from benefactors and various entities to renew the carpet of the Umayyad Mosque, however, the Syrian leadership insisted that this be done at the expense of the country's government in a step that reflects its deep concern for the religious aspect and its support."
He concluded by saying, "In preparation for the upcoming blessed month of Ramadan, we announce the start of the carpet renewal process at the Umayyad Mosque, after it was manufactured in the best factories of our sisterly Turkish Republic at the expense of the Syrian government."
