Reports have revealed that the chatbot Grok, developed by xAI, a company owned by Elon Musk, temporarily blocked search results indicating that Elon Musk and the U.S. President Donald Trump "spread misleading information."
This was announced by Igor Babushkin, the head of engineering at xAI, who explained that an employee of the company (a former employee of OpenAI) updated Grok's system directives without management approval.
Some users noticed that Grok no longer displays results that suggest the spread of misleading information by Musk or Trump.
In response to inquiries on platform "X," Babushkin stated that the robot's response rules are publicly available because the company believes users should know how to guide artificial intelligence.
He pointed out that the employee who made the change thought he was improving performance but went against the company's values.
Musk has always described his robot Grok as "seeking ultimate truth" with the goal of "understanding the universe," although Grok does not say so itself. However, since the launch of the new model Grok-3, artificial intelligence has shown controversial biases, stating that Trump, Musk, and Vice President Joe Biden "are causing the most harm to America."
Recently, Musk's engineers intervened to prevent the robot from making statements regarding the execution of Trump and Musk, sparking a broader discussion on the extent to which AI-developing companies control public discourse.
