Egypt: Security Forces Kill Terrorists from "Hasm" and Thwart Plan to Sabotage Facilities

The Egyptian Ministry of Interior announced the thwarting of a terrorist plan by the "Hasm" movement, the armed wing of the banned Muslim Brotherhood group, where two elements affiliated with the movement were killed during an armed confrontation with security forces. This operation came after intelligence indicated an attempt by the elements to carry out sabotage operations targeting security and economic facilities in the country.
The ministry explained that fugitive leaders of the movement in Turkey planned to revive their armed activities, as they sent a militarily trained element to infiltrate Egypt illegally across the border. Security agencies also monitored a video posted on social media showing training of movement elements in a desert area in a neighboring country, including threats to carry out terrorist operations.
Security forces managed to identify the identities of the leaders involved in planning the operations, including Yahya Sayed Ibrahim Mohamed Musa, one of the prominent founders of the movement sentenced to death in the case of the assassination of the public prosecutor, in addition to other life sentences for charges related to targeting individuals and vital facilities. The list also included Mohamed Rafik Ibrahim Minaa, Alaa Ali Al-Samahi, Mohamed Abdel Hafez, and Ali Mahmoud Abdel Wanes, who are elements sentenced in multiple terrorism cases.
During the security follow-up, the infiltration of Ahmed Mohamed Abdel Razek Ghanem, sentenced to death in a case targeting police officers in Sharkia, was detected, as he entered the country through illegal means and used an apartment in the Boulaq Al Dakrour area as a base to prepare terrorist operations in cooperation with another wanted element.
After obtaining permission from the State Security Prosecution, security forces raided the hiding place of the elements, who opened fire indiscriminately, leading to their death and the martyrdom of a citizen passing by, in addition to the injury of an officer while attempting to rescue the citizen.
It is worth noting that the "Hasm" movement had posted a threatening video on the "Telegram" platform titled "This is the Way," in which it declared its intention to carry out armed operations against facilities and prisons in an attempt to free its detainees. The video also featured training including assassination operations and bombings. These developments come within the context of security warnings about the escalating activities of terrorist groups linked to the Muslim Brotherhood organization.
