Egypt Renews Call for National Accord and Unification of Libyan Institutions

The Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director of the Libyan Department, Tarek Dahrouj, announced that his country encourages dialogue among all Libyan parties and calls for overcoming differences and achieving national consensus.
In his statements on Thursday, Dahrouj emphasized the necessity of unifying the Libyan executive authority on legitimate and consensus-based foundations that enjoy wide acceptance among the Libyan people, urging respect for the will of the Libyan people in determining their capabilities.
The Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt stated that the political solution is the only way in Libya, in accordance with the outcomes of the Berlin Conference, Security Council resolutions, the principle of "Libya for Libyans," and the Skhirat agreements. He also expressed his country's welcome to any serious steps towards unifying Libyan institutions, especially the military institution and economic institutions.
Dahrouj affirmed that the security of Libya is an integral part of the security of Egypt and the entire region, emphasizing Egypt's rejection of the use of Libyan territories by any external forces or armed groups that pose a threat to neighboring countries.
He explained that Egypt supports all legitimate Libyan institutions that have emerged from a genuine Libyan consensus, pointing out that Cairo is a developmental partner for both eastern and western Libya, and its companies operate responsibly and professionally in both regions.
The Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs announced that, in implementation of the directives of the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, the Foreign Minister is following the ongoing efforts aimed at opening the Egyptian consulate building in Tripoli before the end of the current year.
