Egypt and Qatar issued a joint statement on Sunday evening regarding negotiations for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. The statement emphasized the continued efforts of both countries to bridge differences and reach an agreement based on the U.S. envoy's proposal to resume indirect negotiations. Egypt and Qatar, in coordination with the United States, expressed their intention to intensify efforts to overcome obstacles in the negotiations and called on all parties to take responsibility and support the mediators' efforts to end the crisis in Gaza. The statement concluded by expressing hope for a temporary ceasefire lasting 60 days leading to a permanent ceasefire, allowing for humanitarian aid, border openings, and the eventual reconstruction of Gaza in accordance with the plan adopted by the emergency Arab summit in Cairo on March 4, 2025.
