In an unusual incident, a heavily intoxicated British passenger forced a "Jet 2" British airline flight to make an emergency landing at Cologne Bonn Airport in Germany after unleashing violent and disruptive behavior that caused chaos and fear among passengers and crew members.
The flight, which was headed from Manchester Airport to Larnaca in Cyprus on the evening of Thursday, August 21, witnessed irresponsible actions from the 41-year-old woman, as she began attacking passengers and crew with punches, kicks, and insults, prompting the pilot to divert the flight and make an immediate landing at the nearest airport.
The plane arrived at Cologne Bonn Airport at 7:20 PM local time, where German police received the passenger and arrested her immediately.
A spokesperson for the police, Matthias Kampfer, explained that the woman was placed in custody until she regained consciousness, and she was banned from entering the country in preparation for her deportation to Britain.
The problems did not stop there, as the aircraft faced technical malfunctions after the incident that prevented it from taking off again, forcing passengers to wait in the transit area for hours before a replacement plane transported them to their final destination in Cyprus later on Thursday evening.
The incident raised questions about security procedures on board flights and the readiness of crews to handle such emergency situations that endanger everyone's safety.
