Doha Negotiations on Gaza Continue for Third Day without Breakthrough

Indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas in Doha continue in an effort to reach an agreement to cease fire in the Gaza Strip, without any breakthrough so far, according to a knowledgeable source for Agence France-Presse on Tuesday, July 8.
The source, who requested anonymity, confirmed that "no breakthrough has been achieved so far, and the negotiations are ongoing," indicating the complexities of the ongoing talks in the Qatari capital.
On the other hand, a Palestinian source pointed out that the negotiations, held in the presence of Egyptian and Qatari mediation, focus on "mechanisms for implementing the proposed plan," including "Israeli military withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, the entry of humanitarian aid, and cessation of hostilities," describing them as "difficult."
The source added that Hamas appears "serious about reaching an agreement," expressing hope that "the American side will pressure Israel to make progress in the file of ceasefire, prisoner exchange, and hostages."
This comes within the framework of a new round of negotiations that started on Sunday evening in Qatar, based on a mediation proposal _according to sources_ relying on the plan of the American envoy, Steve Wicoff, in an attempt to end the ongoing war in the region for months.
