Details of the armed escalation and the targeting of security and civilian in Ashrafieh, Sahnaia in the countryside of Damascus.

An official source at the Ministry of Interior stated that "armed groups operating outside the law" carried out an attack on a security checkpoint in the Ashrafieh Sahnaia area in the countryside of Damascus on Tuesday evening, resulting in the injury of three security personnel.
The source added that the militants "scattered in the surrounding agricultural lands after the attack, randomly firing at cars and pedestrians," causing a state of panic.
The ministry also confirmed that the same groups targeted a civilian car coming from Daraa province, resulting in the death of six people on board.
Ongoing Clashes and Security Escalation
The area witnessed fierce clashes between local armed groups belonging to the Druze sect and other groups from outside the region, using heavy machine guns and shells. Local sources reported that the clashes are "still ongoing," resulting in casualties on both sides.
Meanwhile, "Suwayda 24 Network" accused that the attack "appears coordinated," despite the participation of public security forces with local groups in confronting it. Also, "Dignity Men Movement - Ashrafieh Sahnaia Sector" mourned one of its prominent figures, Sheikh Wajdi Al-Haj Ali, who was killed during what the movement described as "confronting extremist organizations attempting to infiltrate the city."
Security Measures and Calls to Contain the Crisis
In an attempt to contain the situation, the internal security forces imposed a curfew in the cities of Sahnaia and Ashrafieh Sahnaia. The official of Daraya region, Jameel Mador, visited the sheikhs of the Druze Muwahideen sect and the Council of Notables in Sahnaia to follow up on the developments.
Dr. Mohammed Ali Amer, the official of Eastern Ghouta region, met with representatives of religious and social activities in Jaramana, under the directive of Damascus Countryside Governor Amer Al-Sheikh, to affirm "the state's commitment to protecting residents, ensuring security, and holding those involved accountable."
Continued Shelling and Fears of Escalating Violence
Local media sources reported that the attack "has not stopped for several hours," amid shelling with mortars and medium machine guns, and attempts to storm the city.
Tamer Refaah, the representative of the local community in Ashrafieh Sahnaia, stated that "the attackers belong to unknown factions," appealing to "relevant authorities to intervene to stop the attack."
