The firefighting teams affiliated with the Syrian Civil Defense managed to control the massive fire that broke out on Tuesday, April 22, at a fuel station in the city of Al-Bab, east of Aleppo.
The violent explosion at the station resulted in the ignition of fuel tanks, rapidly spreading the fire to neighboring warehouses, buildings, and surrounding vehicles.
The fire also resulted in injuries to several firefighting personnel while attempting to extinguish it.
Amidst the escalating flames, local authorities called for the intervention of Turkish firefighting aircraft to assist in controlling the large fire.
With continuous efforts, the firefighting teams managed to extinguish the fire and began cooling operations using water supplied by locals and local organizations, with the participation of six centers of the Syrian Civil Defense in the firefighting efforts.
The exact causes behind the explosion have not been clarified yet, but some witnesses suggested that the incident may have been caused by explosive devices planted in the tanks, reinforcing the deliberate targeting theory of the site.
It is worth noting that Al-Bab city has witnessed several similar incidents in the past, including explosions in fuel tanks and illegal refining operations, raising questions about the security situation and the safety of oil facilities in the region.
Currently, firefighting teams continue to work on cooling and extinguishing the remaining fires, while authorities are conducting investigations to uncover the circumstances of the incident and identify those responsible.
