The Russian news agency "Interfax" reported today, Monday, citing Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, that the Russian government supports extending the partial ban on gasoline exports, which is currently in effect until the end of August, to the months of September and October. Russia initially imposed a ban on gasoline exports in March 2024 to address the sharp rise in wholesale fuel prices and the risk of shortages in the domestic market. The government partially lifted the ban in November for most major producers, but continued to expand its scope to include other suppliers, including independent operators and resellers. The ban excludes supplies to the Eurasian Economic Union led by Moscow, a bloc of five former Soviet states, and countries like Mongolia that have agreements on fuel supplies with Moscow. It is worth noting that the largest importers of Russian gasoline are Nigeria, Libya, Tunisia, and the United Arab Emirates.
