Denying the news of temporary residency for Syrian officers in the Iraqi Interior Ministry: "Completely denied in full and in detail."

The Iraqi Ministry of Interior has denied reports that Baghdad has granted "temporary residency" for humanitarian reasons to dozens of officers and leaders of the deposed regime's army who sought refuge in the country on the 7th and 8th of December 2024.
The ministry stated on its official Facebook page today, Tuesday the 11th of February, that the circulating reports about the Iraqi government granting "temporary residency for humanitarian reasons" to dozens of officers and leaders of the deposed Syrian regime's army who sought refuge in Iraq are "completely false and detailed."
The ministry also quoted its spokesperson, Brigadier Muqdad Miri, as saying that Iraq has not granted Syrian officers who sought refuge in Iraq when the opposition forces entered Damascus and the Syrian regime fell any residency on its territory.
Miri confirmed that the Iraqi Interior Ministry has not taken any action regarding granting residency for any reason to officers and leaders of the defunct regime's army.
