House Democratic leader Hakim Jeffries said during a visit to Copenhagen today, Friday, that "it is unlikely that Congress will support any invasion of Greenland, a semi-autonomous territory belonging to Denmark."

President Donald Trump has expressed his desire for the United States to control Greenland and has not ruled out the use of force to do so.

Jeffries told journalists in Copenhagen during a visit by members of Congress, "I don't think there is real support from both parties in Congress to take strong action regarding Greenland."

He added: "You will have to ask our Republican colleagues, but I have not seen any serious Republican members in Congress supporting the idea that we should invade Greenland in one way or another."

It is worth mentioning that the American delegation included members from both the Democratic and Republican parties, but none of the Republicans spoke at the press conference held after their meeting with Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and Defense Minister Truls Lund Poulsen.
