Deir ez-Zor.. Arrest of a suspect for luring a girl and killing her before throwing her body into a canal

The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced on Tuesday the arrest of a man accused of killing the girl Israa Al-Karta (8 years old) in Deir ez-Zor province, after he lured her to his home and then disposed of her body.

Colonel Darrar Al-Shamlan, head of internal security in Deir ez-Zor, stated that investigation teams moved immediately upon receiving a report about the discovery of a girl's body in a water canal in the village of Mahkan, where evidence was collected and leads in the case were followed.

Al-Shamlan added that investigations led to identifying the perpetrator and his arrest, revealing during the investigation that he lured the victim to his home, killed her, then hid her body in a water tank before throwing it into the canal.

The Ministry of Interior confirmed its commitment to continue the investigations until the criminal receives his just punishment, expressing its heartfelt condolences to the girl's family.
