Amid escalating humanitarian crises in the Gaza Strip, yesterday's Monday airstrikes and continuous Israeli gunfire resulted in the death of at least 78 Palestinians, including a pregnant woman whose baby was rescued immediately after her death but did not survive, according to local health officials.
The victims mostly perished while trying to obtain food, despite Israel recently announcing a partial easing of restrictions on humanitarian aid entry into the region and a partial halt to its military operations in some areas, including Gaza City, Deir al-Balah, and Al-Mawasi, for 10 hours daily.
Despite these measures, hundreds of families still face increasing famine amid a severe shortage of food and medicine.
Martin Penner, a spokesperson for the United Nations World Food Programme, confirmed that all 55 trucks that arrived in the region on Sunday had their cargo unloaded by the crowds before reaching the actual beneficiaries, due to the continued closure of alternative routes.
While Israel continues its military operations alongside these measures, international relief agencies call for enhancing urgent humanitarian intervention to avert a major humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.
