Following the recent rapprochement that took place about a month ago between the Syrian Democratic Forces, known as "SDF," and the new administration in Damascus, a new agreement has been reached between the two sides regarding two well-known neighborhoods in Aleppo, predominantly inhabited by Kurds. A temporary agreement was reached today, Tuesday, for the Kurdish forces to withdraw from the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiya in the city of Aleppo. The main points of the agreement signed between the Civil Councils of Ashrafiya and Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhoods in Aleppo province and the committee appointed by the presidency to implement the agreement with the Syrian Democratic Forces are as follows: - Respecting the social and cultural privacy of the residents of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiya neighborhoods with a Kurdish majority, with the Ministry of Interior taking responsibility for protecting the residents and preventing any attacks or threats to their lives. - Armed manifestations are prohibited in the neighborhoods, and weapons are restricted to the internal security forces under the Ministry of Interior in the neighborhoods. - Military forces will gradually withdraw from the neighborhoods to the forces' deployment area, and an internal security center will be established in both Ashrafiya and Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhoods. - The fate of detainees by both parties in Aleppo province will be discussed, and all prisoners captured after liberation will be exchanged. - Technical committees will be formed to implement the agreement on the ground, and the provisions of this civil agreement will take effect when the Kurdish and Syrian central parties agree on a sustainable text. Recent times have witnessed a kind of agreement between the "SDF" and the new Syrian government, following the meeting between the SDF commander Mazloum Abdi and the Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa on March 10 at the People's Palace in the capital, Damascus, where several points were agreed upon, facilitating the Syrian government's control over areas in northeastern Syria and ensuring Kurdish rights in the new government.
