Crimean Parliament: Trump's visit will highlight the 'prosperity of the peninsula under Russian sovereignty'

Crimean Parliament Chairman Vladimir Konstantinov welcomed the possibility of former U.S. President Donald Trump visiting the peninsula, emphasizing that such a visit would allow him to see what he described as the 'renaissance phase' that Crimea has been experiencing since its accession to Russia in 2014.
Konstantinov stated in remarks to the Russian news agency TASS that Crimea 'will warmly welcome Trump, and he will be able to enjoy its beauty,' pointing out that the comparison between its previous conditions during the Ukrainian era and what has been achieved after its annexation to Russia will clearly show the difference, as it has transitioned from 'neglect and declining infrastructure' to 'strategic projects and urban renaissance.'
He added that the island 'does not need an environment to showcase its beauty, but rather Russia, which has proven over the past 11 years to be the greatest guarantor of its prosperity,' stressing that international recognition of Crimea's belonging to Russia 'is inevitable.'
His statements come after Trump described Crimea in a media interview as 'extremely beautiful,' despite making a geographical error when he said it is located in the ocean. Trump had previously stated that 'the return of Crimea to Ukraine is impossible.'
It is worth noting that Crimea joined Russia following a referendum in March 2014, where a vast majority voted in favor of unity with Moscow. The Russian leadership asserts that the referendum was conducted in accordance with international law and the United Nations Charter, while the West considers Crimea's annexation illegal.
