During talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and the President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Putin expressed his country's readiness to offer its mediation in the dialogue between Iran and Israel.
The statement issued by the Kremlin's press service indicated that Putin discussed with his Emirati counterpart the recent escalation in the region, expressing Moscow's readiness to assist the parties involved in finding diplomatic solutions to the current crisis.
Vladimir Putin also confirmed Russia's readiness to provide assistance and mediation to promote dialogue between the conflicting parties, informing Mohammed bin Zayed of the contacts he made in this regard with a number of foreign leaders, as stated in the statement: "Both parties expressed their deep concern about the continued escalation of the Iranian-Israeli conflict, which carries extremely negative consequences for the entire region".
The statement added: "Both sides emphasized the urgent need to stop the fighting as soon as possible and intensify political and diplomatic efforts to settle the contentious issues related to the Iranian nuclear program".
Putin also briefed the Emirati President on the contacts he made with a number of foreign leaders regarding the situation in the Middle East.
