Conclusion of the Artificial Intelligence and Entrepreneurship Conference in Damascus.

The first regional conference on artificial intelligence and entrepreneurship concluded in the Syrian capital, Damascus, over two days, with the presence of the Syrian Minister of Communications and Technology, Abdulsalam Haykal, and the participation of a select group of entrepreneurs and technology experts from various Arab countries.
The conference discussions focused on ways to utilize modern technologies to support the digital economy, addressing the challenges and opportunities facing the artificial intelligence sector in the region.
Participants unanimously agreed on the importance of innovation as a fundamental tool for decision-making in the digital age, while cautioning against the security risks resulting from excessive reliance on these technologies in data collection and processing.
The conference sessions extensively discussed the role of digital transformation in rebuilding war-affected countries, with a special focus on the Syrian situation. Experts shared insights on attracting national talents, stopping brain drain, and providing a conducive environment to attract technological investments.
On the sidelines, several entrepreneurs presented practical showcases of successes achieved in artificial intelligence applications, especially in healthcare and smart agriculture. Participants also discussed how to turn challenges into investment opportunities in developing economies.
Dr. Janan Al Khouri, a Lebanese expert in cyber legislation, emphasized the urgent need to update legal frameworks in line with rapid technological advancements. In her speech, she stressed the importance of striking a balance between traditional regulations and modern requirements to ensure a regulatory environment that fosters innovation without compromising cybersecurity.
At the end of the conference, three cooperation agreements were signed between the Arab Telecommunications and Internet Union, the Syrian Ministry of Communications, the Syrian Computer Society, and the "Bifol" platform specializing in volunteer work management. These agreements aim to enhance digital infrastructure and develop technological skills for Syrian youth.
Dr. Feras Al Bakour, President of the Arab Telecommunications and Internet Union, announced the organizers' intention to hold the conference annually, praising the distinguished level of participants and the positive outcomes of this important scientific event.
