Chinese media: Canadian and Australian warships cross the Taiwan Strait under the watch of the Chinese military

Chinese state media reported today, Saturday, that two warships belonging to Canada and Australia have crossed the Taiwan Strait.
The Chinese state-run "Global Times" reported, citing its sources, that the Canadian frigate "Ville de Québec" and the Australian guided-missile destroyer "Brisbane" are the two ships that crossed the waterway separating mainland China from Taiwan.
The newspaper reported that "the People's Liberation Army of China continued full monitoring and surveillance during the crossing operation, and the situation was under complete control."
On the other hand, the Taiwanese Ministry of Defense announced that it cannot comment on the matter at this time, while the Canadian and Australian militaries did not respond to requests for comments made by Reuters.
It is noted that ships of the U.S. Navy, and sometimes ships from allied countries such as Canada, Britain, and France, cross the strait approximately once a month, as those countries consider it an international waterway.
In contrast, China considers the Taiwan Strait part of its territorial waters, while Taiwan also regards it as an international passage. China continuously asserts that Taiwan is an inseparable part of its territory.
