British Foreign Secretary David Lamey affirmed today, Saturday, that a sustainable ceasefire in Sweida is of utmost importance.
In a post on the "X" platform, Lamey said: "We are alarmed by the violence in southern Syria", emphasizing the "need to end the fighting, protect civilians, and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid".
He added: "I spoke yesterday with Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shaaban as part of the UK's efforts to call for a peaceful solution".
Earlier today, the Syrian presidency announced a comprehensive and immediate ceasefire, calling on all parties to abide by it.
Bedouin tribes and armed groups in the province of Sweida clashed in recent days, resulting in numerous casualties.
