Brack praises Lebanon's plan to end armed presence

The U.S. envoy to Syria, Tom Brack, described the Lebanese government's decision to end the armed presence in the country, including Hezbollah's weapons, as a "historic, bold, and correct" decision, praising the assignment to the Lebanese army to prepare an executive plan to be implemented before the end of this year.
On the X platform, Brack stated that the step comes in the context of starting the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement, which ended the war between Hezbollah and Israel through U.S. mediation.
He also pointed out that the agreement stipulates limiting the carrying of weapons to six official security and military agencies only, which means ending the presence of any armed formations outside of them.
He confirmed that the new decisions finally put the slogan "One Nation and One Army" into action.
He concluded by affirming U.S. support, saying: "We stand by the Lebanese people."
