Berri: The American delegation came with what contradicts our expectations

Lebanese Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri expressed his frustration with the results of the American delegation's visit to Lebanon, confirming that the envoys came contrary to what they promised.

Berri explained in statements to the "Asharq Al-Awsat" newspaper that the American position focused on demanding Hezbollah to withdraw its weapons before any corresponding Israeli step, which contradicted expectations regarding the "step-by-step" policy. He added that the delegation did not present any new Israeli developments, which complicated the situation again, emphasizing that the next stage is not easy, and he refused to go into details about the government meeting scheduled for September 2 regarding the army's plan for Hezbollah's weapons.
