Beirut airport imposes new conditions on Syrians returning to their country through Lebanon.

Beirut's Rafic Hariri International Airport issued a circular prohibiting any Syrian citizen returning to Syria from entering unless they hold a valid residency in another country for several months.
The circular, circulated by Lebanese media, demands airlines to "strictly require Syrians wishing to travel to Syria via Lebanon through the airport to have valid residencies abroad for more than 6 months."
The decision specifies that "any traveler without residency abroad will be returned on the same plane," emphasizing the return of Syrians who violate the conditions "on the same plane they arrived on."
In a related context, Lebanese authorities imposed a financial stamp duty of one million Lebanese pounds (equivalent to 11 US dollars) on non-Lebanese travelers wishing to enter the country through land borders, which came into effect last Monday.
It is worth mentioning that Lebanese authorities had allowed last February Syrian individuals who entered Europe "illegally" and wished to transit through Lebanon to Syria, provided that the transit period does not exceed 24 hours only.
