Azerbaijan seeks to calm tensions between Turkey and Israel and avoid confrontation in Syria.

The Hebrew newspaper "Haaretz" revealed Azerbaijan's efforts, supported by Turkey and close to Israel, to calm the escalating tension between Ankara and Tel Aviv and avoid any potential confrontation between them in Syria.
The newspaper pointed out that Azerbaijan is acting as a mediator to exchange messages between the two sides, seeking to reduce differences, especially following the recent escalation between Turkey, supporting the new Syrian regime, and Israel.
"Haaretz" explained that Israel has taken a series of actions that have increased tension, including publicly demanding disarmament in southern Damascus and carrying out military strikes resulting in casualties, sparking protests against Israel in Syria. These steps, according to the newspaper, have exacerbated the rift between Israel and Turkey, which supports the Syrian regime after the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime.
The newspaper quoted sources in Azerbaijan stating that the Israeli claim to limit Turkish influence in Syria after Assad's fall "is not accurate," confirming that Russia will not stay in Syria for long, and if it wants to maintain its presence, it will have to negotiate with Turkey, not Israel.
Azerbaijan also expressed concern about Israel's support for the Kurds in Syria, where Azerbaijani parliament member Rasim Musabekov pointed out that Israel assisted in the arrest of Kurdistan Workers' Party leader Abdullah Ocalan in the 1990s.
Musabekov emphasized that Turkey will not forgive Israel for supporting the Kurds, warning that any Israeli support for the Kurds will lead to significant tension with Turkey, and called on Israel to refrain from supporting the establishment of a Kurdish state.
Musabekov added that Azerbaijan seeks to make relations between Israel and Turkey more systematic to ensure no animosity between the two regional partners, emphasizing that Azerbaijan's interest lies in enhancing stability between its strategic allies, Israel and Turkey, to achieve its national interests.
This comes as Israel continues to escalate its rhetoric towards the new Syrian regime and carry out military operations inside Syrian territories, further complicating the regional landscape.
