The Libyan capital Tripoli witnessed massive protests on Friday night _ Saturday, demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Al-Dabaiba's government. Protesters gathered in several areas of the city, including Friday Market and Algeria Square, while others closed main roads in Ghout Al-Shaal and the coastal road in Zawiya city.
These protests come in the wake of the death of civil activist Abdul Moneim Al-Marimi, who died from injuries sustained after being abducted earlier in the city of Surman.
The movement to overthrow the interim government accused both Al-Dabaiba and the Internal Security Forces of being behind Al-Marimi's murder, calling for an urgent and transparent investigation under the supervision of neutral parties.
One of the activists confirmed that the official narrative of Al-Marimi's death does not match the medical report, which indicates that the death was caused by a blow to the head. He pointed out a deliberate cover-up by not releasing surveillance camera footage documenting his fall, considering it evidence of premeditated murder.
The activists demanded full disclosure of the truth and holding those responsible accountable to the Libyan people, amid escalating tensions in the capital.
