As part of a series of simultaneous military operations targeting Iran and its allies, Israel launched an aerial attack on Sanaa, the Yemeni capital, on Saturday night targeting Mohammed Al-Ghamari, the chief of staff of the Houthi group.
The Israeli Broadcasting Authority announced that the air force carried out the military operation targeting a high-ranking official in the group, stating that the results are still under examination.
No official response has been issued by the Houthis regarding this operation so far.
The American website "Axios" quoted a senior Israeli official as saying that the operation specifically targeted Mohammed Al-Ghamari, indicating that the airstrikes also targeted the operations coordination room between the Houthis and Iran, aiming at a number of Houthi leaders.
Local residents heard explosions in Sanaa, but the exact location of the bombing was not clear.
These airstrikes come amid escalating tensions, as the leader of the Houthis, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, had declared full support for the Iranian response to Israeli attacks, threatening Tel Aviv with an "open and ongoing war."
Israel had carried out a military operation days ago under the name "Rising Lion," targeting nuclear facilities and missile bases in Iran, resulting in the deaths of nuclear scientists and leaders. Iran responded with missile strikes and drones targeting Israeli territories, leading the region to a state of extreme alert.
