The Internal Security Forces in the countryside of Damascus carried out a successful security operation yesterday targeting terrorist cells affiliated with "ISIS" that were active in several areas of the western Ghouta. The operation resulted in the arrest of several members of these cells and the seizure of large quantities of weapons they possessed, which they were planning to use to disrupt security and stability in the region.
In an official statement conveyed by the Ministry of Interior's channel on Telegram, Colonel Hussam Al-Tahan, the commander of the Internal Security in the countryside of Damascus, revealed details of the operation, explaining that it was based on precise intelligence information provided by the General Intelligence Directorate to the Anti-Terrorism Branch in the province.
Al-Tahan confirmed that the information indicated the presence of ISIS cells in several areas of the western Ghouta, including: Al-Kiswah, Deir Khabiyeh, Al-Maqaylebah, and Zakieh.
He added, "We immediately began intensive monitoring and tracking of the movements of these terrorist cells, and based on detailed analysis and precise field preparations, the appropriate time and place were selected to carry out the operation, which was exceptionally successful."
The operation led to the arrest of several members of the terrorist organization, as well as the seizure of various weapons, including light, medium, and heavy weapons, among which were anti-tank rocket launchers, explosive devices, and suicide vests prepared to carry out terrorist operations aimed at spreading chaos and fear among citizens and destabilizing the region.
Colonel Al-Tahan concluded his statement by saying, "We, in the leadership of the Internal Security in the countryside of Damascus, are determined to fulfill our national duty, loyal to the oath we have taken, and we are tirelessly working to consolidate security and stability throughout the province, for a safe and stable country, God willing."
