The Iranian authorities have arrested a European citizen on charges of espionage in the Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province in the northwest of the country. He entered Iran as a tourist, but was on a secret mission to gather information from sensitive and important sites, coinciding with recent Israeli attacks on Iranian territories.
Sources explained that the man was staying in one of the Iranian cities and had a SIM card linked to an Iranian person, in addition to several mobile phones used to carry out his intelligence activities.
Authorities also found a collection of photos documenting sensitive points and locations in desert areas.
In simultaneous developments, Tasnim Agency announced the arrest of two "Mossad agents" foreigners in Karaj, west of Tehran. Meanwhile, Iranian security forces announced early Friday the arrest of 6 women on charges of working as spies for the Israeli intelligence agency "Mossad" on the border strip of the city of Qasr-e Shirin in Kermanshah Province, west of the country.
The commander of the Revolutionary Guards in Sar-e Pol-e Zahab, Colonel Mojtaba Kakaei, mentioned that the women were planning to escape the country after carrying out their missions.
These arrests come in the context of intensified security campaigns announced by the Iranian authorities in recent days, including the arrest of dozens of collaborators with the Israeli side and dismantling secret factories for preparing drones, in order to thwart attacks targeting the country.
