In a prominent diplomatic move, an Arab delegation led by Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan will visit Ramallah next Sunday as part of the efforts of the ministerial committee stemming from the Arab-Islamic summit aimed at halting the war in Gaza, securing the entry of humanitarian aid, and paving the way for a comprehensive political solution to the Palestinian issue. This visit coincides with intensive efforts led by the committee to expand recognition of the Palestinian state, following its recent meeting in Madrid to discuss the escalating situation in Gaza and the West Bank. The committee emphasized in its statement the necessity of implementing a two-state solution based on international legitimacy resolutions, ensuring the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with its capital in East Jerusalem. In this context, the Palestinian delegate to the United Nations, Dr. Riyad Mansour, revealed that Saudi Arabia intends to take significant steps towards recognizing the Palestinian state, expecting ten new Western countries to join this path soon. This diplomatic movement is also part of the preparations for an international conference to settle the Palestinian issue, scheduled to be held in New York in June, under a joint Saudi-French presidency. The majority of UN member and observer states have announced their full support for this conference, affirming that the two-state solution is the only internationally acceptable option, and commending the leading role of Saudi Arabia and France. The new initiatives also focus on ensuring the cessation of annexation attempts and forced displacement, enhancing support for the Palestinian government and the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), amid the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza and the urgent need for sustainable solutions.
