U.S. Trade Representative: Tariffs Imposed by Trump Last Week Will Remain as They Are

Ahead of the deadline on Friday, a presidential executive order showed that Trump set rates including tariffs of 35% on many goods from Canada, 50% for Brazil, 25%, and 20% for Taiwan, and 39% for Switzerland.
In trade talks since Trump's return to office, the White House has reduced some tariffs from the levels initially announced, including cutting tariffs imposed on the European Union by nearly half as part of a deal reached last week.
Greer said in statements to CBS on Sunday that this will not be the case in the latest round of tariffs.
The trade representative added: "Much of these tariffs are determined by agreements. Some of these deals are public and some are not, and others depend on the level of trade deficit or surplus we may have with the country... These tariff rates will largely remain unchanged."
