Reuters quoted a senior US military official as saying today, Tuesday, that the Yemeni Houthi group allied with Iran is likely to pose an ongoing problem for the United States in the future, even after Washington and the group reached an agreement last month that ended a US air campaign against them.
Lieutenant General Alexus Grynkewich, director of operations for the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told lawmakers, "It is likely that the Houthis will pose an ongoing problem... we will face them again in the future".
Grynkewich has been nominated to take over the command of the US Army's European leadership.
US President Donald Trump announced last month that the United States would stop bombing the Houthis, who had been firing at US warships and commercial vessels off the coast of Yemen.
