The U.S. Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, stated that the strikes carried out by Israel on Iran were unilateral, confirming that the United States did not participate in any way.
Rubio added that Washington was informed by Tel Aviv that this strike was "necessary for self-defense," emphasizing that his country's priority now is to protect American forces and interests in the region.
In his statement, Rubio called on Tehran not to target American individuals or interests, saying: "Let me be clear, Iran must not target American interests or individuals."
Meanwhile, a U.S. official told the French news agency that the United States did not provide any support or assistance to Israel in this military operation.
Reuters also quoted U.S. officials as saying that Israel carried out the strikes against Iran independently, without coordination or U.S. involvement.
These statements come following remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump reaffirming his commitment to a diplomatic solution to the Iranian nuclear issue, while urging the Israeli ally to avoid military escalation against Tehran.
