The U.S. Central Command "CENTCOM" announced its responsibility for targeting carried out by a drone in Idlib yesterday, Friday.

"CENTCOM" stated today, Saturday, February 22, that "its forces conducted a precise airstrike in northwest Syria, resulting in the killing of Qassim al-Rimi, described as "a senior leader in the (Guardians of Religion) organization affiliated with (Al-Qaeda)."

According to "CENTCOM," the airstrike comes as part of its ongoing commitment alongside partners in the region to disrupt and diminish the efforts of "terrorists" in planning, organizing, and executing attacks against civilians and military personnel from the United States, allies, and partners in and outside the region.

General Michael Eric Kurilla, Commander of CENTCOM, said, "We will relentlessly pursue and destroy terrorist threats, regardless of their location, to protect our citizens, allies, and partners."

Shortly after the targeting, Syrian researcher Mohammed Muneer Al-Faqir mourned Qassim al-Rimi, the brother of the director of endowments in Damascus, stating that "Damascus Movement" bids farewell to one of its prominent figures after his killing in northern Idlib.

Days ago, the United States claimed responsibility for killing a leader in the "Guardians of Religion" faction during an airstrike carried out in Syria.
